Introduction

The Islands on the Web (IOTW) website is the premier website for the flow of information to ham radio operators who pursue the Radio Society of Great Britain's Islands on the Air (IOTA) Programme.  If you have products or services of interest to ham radio operators, IOTW is a fantastic place for you to advertise.  IOTW offers the ability to reach a targeted, rapidly growing, international audience, at highly competitive rates.

Audience

Since IOTW opened in October of 1997, traffic has increased significantly with the website now receiving well over 400,000 hits monthly (and it is still steadily climbing).  IOTW has now taken its place as the number one resource for IOTA chasers.

The audience that would view your ads would be ham radio operators that pursue the very challenging Islands on the Air (IOTA) Programme of the Radio Society of Great Britain.  These hams are experienced DXers, many build equipment, many are contesters, many operate mobile or portable, and most also chase DXCC.  Additionally, IOTA is an extremely popular program in Europe, South America, and Japan.  Approximately 30% of the hits logged by IOTW are from outside the United States, making IOTW a great place to advertise if you want to expand your business into foreign markets.

Advertising Rates

Fees from advertising are used to offset the costs of maintaining IOTW (server rental, software updates etc). IOTW charges a nominal fee of $20.00 per month to place a banner ad in our rotation. Banner ads are displayed on every page on IOTW's website. Our software rotates banners so that each time a page loads, the next banner in the rotation will be displayed. We keep our banner rotation list small so that maximum ad displays are achieved.

We will rotate banners from non-profit ham radio organizations for free, subject to space in the banner rotation and to IOTW's approval. Free banners may be paused from rotating from time to time if the banner rotation becomes filled. Priority must be given to paying customers...they pay IOTW's bills!

Banner Ads

Here is a list of criteria for your banner ad:
 

  •  Must be GIF or JPEG format
  •  Standard banner size of 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels tall is suggested, but other sizes are acceptable
  •  File size cannot be larger than 12 kb
  •  You may have animated gifs
  •  Your banner file may reside on another server, or we will host it free
  •  You may change your ad at any time, just send us the new banner!
